Missoula County launches survey for housing and community input

MISSOULA COUNTY — Missoula County is launching its Housing and Community Development survey today, March 2, and is asking residents for input to guide important decisions.

Melissa Richards, a grants administrator for Missoula County, emphasized the survey's importance in guiding grant-seeking efforts.

"This just really helps us talk with the commissioners around funding priorities and helps us gain a little insight into what would be eligible CDBG funding priorities or opportunities that we could apply for," said Richards.

The Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and have already funded projects like the replacement of parts of the Missoula Children's Theater roof and a veteran's housing project with the Poverello Center.

Richards noted that needs can shift annually.

"Last year at the survey, the three top priorities were neighborhood renewal activities, economic development support and housing subsidies. So, I think there was a shift, from the number one being around housing needs," said Richards

The survey remains open until March 31 and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Residents can participate by visiting missoulacountyvoice.com. Results will be presented at the County Commissioner's meeting on April 23.
