HELENA, Mont. - The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) announced on Wednesday that it has selected a new deputy director.

Natalia Bowser has been with the department since 2025 as innovation chief, and served as the director of the Montana Board of Crime Control for seven years, according to a press release from DOC.

"I am honored to step into this role and continue working alongside our dedicated employees," Bowser said. "This is an exciting time for corrections in Montana, and I look forward to the work ahead."

Bowser will step into her new role effective immediately.

"Natalia's wide range of skills and leadership experience will allow her to move seamlessly into this critical role at the DOC," DOC Director Eric Strauss said. "We are at a pivotal time for the department as we prepare for the future of corrections in our state. Natalia has a proven ability to get things done, and cares deeply about our people and our mission."
