Montana FWP seeks public input on local environmental projects

HELENA – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is inviting public comment on two environmental projects aimed at enhancing local recreational sites.

The first project, the Spotted Eagle Lake Tree Reef Habitat, involves continuing efforts to improve fish habitats in Spotted Eagle Lake. Originally a gravel barrow pit, the lake lacks natural fish habitats. Previous efforts with tree reefs showed positive results, and FWP seeks to extend this project for another 10 years. Comments on this project are due by March 11.

The second proposal concerns the acquisition and development of an 86-acre easement for the Logan Public Shooting Range. Located about two miles south of Logan along the I-90 corridor, this project aims to establish a formal public shooting range. FWP has released a draft environmental assessment to evaluate the impact of this development. The deadline for comments on this proposal is March 28.
