Phone scam targets Missoula residents with fake jury duty claims

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Missoula County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving individuals posing as law enforcement officers.

Scammers are pretending to be a sheriff or sergeant and telling people that they have failed to appear for jury duty, before demanding payment.

Officials emphasized that law enforcement will not call and demand money. They will not threaten arrest for non-payment or request cryptocurrency through payment apps.

Residents are urged to be cautious and report any suspicious calls to authorities.
