Polson fire crews contain rooftop bench fire

POLSON, Mont. — A small fire on a commercial building's rooftop was quickly put out by local firefighters with no injuries reported.

The City of Polson Fire Department responded to a report of a possible building fire on 3rd Avenue West near the Cove around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2026, according to a Facebook post from the department.

When crews got there, they found smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters figured out the fire started on a bench sitting on the rooftop and stayed in a small area.

Firefighters wrapped up their work by 9:20 a.m. The bench was destroyed, but the building itself wasn't damaged.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
