Property stolen from Chinook Assembly recovered

UPDATE: April 8, 2026 at 10:41 a.m.

The items stolen from Chinook Assembly were recovered on Tuesday after police executed a search warrant at a local apartment, according to a press release from the Chinook Police Department (CPD).

The missing items included a sound speaker, a camera and a laptop.

CPD said a citizen reported seeing some of the stolen items inside an apartment, which led to the search warrant.

"I am proud to report that the various electrical equipment and other missing property was recovered during the search," CPD Chief Elmer Zarn said. "At this time no charges have been filed, the report will be completed and forwarded to the Blaine County Attorney for review."

CHINOOK, Mont. - Chinook Assembly was vandalized and burglarized between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, according to a post written by the church's pastor. 

"Between the hours of 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 5th, and 10:30 AM on Monday, April 6th, our church was broken into," Pastor Dylan wrote. "Along with the vandalism, several items were taken that directly impact our ability to minister effectively to our congregation and our community. Law enforcement has been notified, and due to the value of the stolen property, this is being treated as a felony."

A monetary reward for the stolen items is being offered by an unnamed benefactor, the church said. Pastor Dylan said if whoever is responsible would be interested in meeting and returning the items, charges may be dropped.

"If the individual(s) responsible would return the property and meet with me personally, there may be an opportunity to resolve this without charges being pursued."
