The Great Falls Police Department shared a video on social media describing the "critical incident" that took place at a mobile home court on 17th Avenue South Monday.

GFPD said a family disturbance was reported just before 8:00 p.m., and shots were fired within minutes of officers arriving. It's not clear who fired the shots, but GFPD said several officers were involved.

One person was transported to the hospital.

None of the involved GFPD officers had "injuries needing immediate medical treatment."

GFPD said there is no further threat to the public, but asked that people avoid the area as they collect evidence at the scene.


GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Police were dispatched to a mobile home court on the 700 block of 17th Ave S at approximately 7:50 p.m. to investigate a family disturbance, according to a report from the Great Falls Police Department.

Upon officers' arrival, the situation escalated into what the department described as a violent encounter. Law enforcement agencies are currently on the scene securing the area.

Additionally, authorities are urging the public to avoid the area to aid in their efforts.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
