Windstorms leave Kootenai roads and trails at risk
Kootenai National Forest — The U.S. Forest Service says windstorms caused heavy damage in parts of the Kootenai National Forest.
According to a Facebook post from the forest, the storms left many trees down and scattered debris across the area, raising concerns about wildfire risk, forest health and safe public access.
Crews are working to clear roads, but the Forest Service is urging caution. Some roads and trails may still have downed trees, washouts and water on the surface.
