Yellowstone boating season starts May 23 with new boat rules

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Yellowstone National Park announced in an official notice that boating season begins May 23 with new inspection and permit requirements for some visitors.

Park officials said all sailboats and some motorized boats must complete a 30-day dry time before they enter the water.

The park said the new steps are meant to help keep Yellowstone waters free of invasive species by making sure boats and equipment are cleaned, drained and dry.

Visitors should check Yellowstone National Park’s website for details about required inspections and permits before heading to the park.
