Missoula police investigate deadly shooting on Alex Lane

MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula Police Department (MPD) responded after midnight on April 11, 2026, to a report that a person had been shot in the 4900 block of Alex Lane.

That person was taken by ambulance to a hospital and later died, according to MPD. Detectives responded, identified all people who were present and conducted several interviews.

One person was taken into custody and is being held on a negligent homicide charge. No public assistance was needed and there was no risk to the public.

Due to the ages of those involved, MPD stated they would not release identities at this time.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
