THE WEEKENDER: Events include Trivia Night, Shamrock Hunt and Pintler Plunge

—The Butte Public Library’s weekly “Cooking the Books” class on Thursday will be “Basics for Teens.” Held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the class is on the library’s third floor at 226 W. —The Mining City Astronomy Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday on the third floor of the Butte Public Library, 226 W. Broadway St. The meeting is led by astronomers from the Cottontail Observatory near Twin Bridges.

—The Covellite Theatre at 215 W. Broadway St., will have Game Night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and is for all ages. The event is hosted by Jeff Hunt.  No outside drinks allowed.

—The Butte Public Library will host a Library Trivia Night at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Cavalier Lounge at the Finlen Hotel, 100 E. Broadway St. Entry fees are $5 per person, and refreshments are available for purchase. Prizes are awarded to the highest scoring teams. The French Family Band, a Nashville-based group that hails from Australia and New Zealand, features Stuie and Camille French on guitars/vocals, and son Sonny on guitars/vocals. The concert is part of the Butte Community Concert Series. The group will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Mother Lode Theatre, 316 W. Park St. —General admission tickets are $45.

—Butte Public Library's BSBPL Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Friday in the library's Big Butte room, 226 W. Broadway St. The group will discuss “The Trees” by Percival Everette. Copies to check out are available at the library. For more details, call the library at 406-792-1080.

—The World Museum of Mining will host a fun and festive Shamrock Hunt at 3 p.m. on Friday at 155 Museum Way. Designed for children 10 and under, these young “miners” will search the museum grounds for hidden shamrocks. Once they’ve collected them, they’ll trade them in for a lucky prize and one special gold shamrock will unlock a grand prize for an extra bit of St. Paddy’s magic.

—A community clothing swap will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Covellite Theatre, 215 W. Broadway St. Participants can bring a few clean, quality items to trade. Tables and racks are provided. All sizes, genders and styles welcome.

—Silver Bow Kiwanis of Butte will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the Maroon Activities Center, 550 E. Mercury St. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Single tickets are $10, family tickets for up to six are available for $30, with veterans and senior tickets paying $5. —With the motto “Splashin’ with a Passion,” Anaconda’s Pintler Plunge is planned for noon on Saturday at Silver Lake. Check-in is at 11 a.m., or pre-register the night prior at the Forge Hotel, 100 Union Ave., Anaconda. The event is a Law Enforcement Torch Run signature fundraising event. —The Comedians with Disabilities Act, a California-based troupe, will perform on Saturday at the Covellite Theatre, 215 W. Broadway St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Since 2010, the troupe has taken many forms and performed for thousands of audiences of all abilities — at colleges, comedy clubs, corporate events, and the occasional dive bar.
