WinCo Foods submits building permit in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – WinCo will move into the building where Shopko operated more than six years ago, marking the first WinCo location in Great Falls.

Mayor Cory Reeves announced that WinCo submitted a building permit for the location in a Facebook post on Thursday night.

Shopko operated the building until 2019, when it closed. Since the company’s closure, the building has been unused except for the seasonal costume store, Spirit Halloween.

The next closest WinCo is in Helena, an 88 mile drive away.

In his post, Reeves also said Chick-Fil-A submitted a building permit in Great Falls.

“This means new jobs, new investment, and more options for our residents. It’s exciting to see continued growth and momentum here in Great Falls, and there’s even more to come,” Reeves said in his post.

The next-closest Chick-Fil-A is a 227 mile drive away in Kalispell, even farther than the nearest WinCo.
